Today is pentecost. 40 days after Easter the Spirit came in power upon the first Christians and 3000 were added to their number that day.

As a baptist, I have heard many explanations diminshing or exaggerating the events of pentecost and their impact on today. In fact, I probably struggle with what pentecost means to the church today because of it. maybe we all need to rethink what the power of the Spirit means and how we can use the power we are given to work for God in man, not as ambassadors of the divine trying to save man, but as ambassadors of God's love bringing that love to man.
