I'm still here...
I just wanted everyone to know that I am still here. I have not fallen off the blog wagon. Actually, I think I'm going to crank it up a few notches as the semester goes on. For now, School update:
Hebrew is cool. i think I will like it emmensly.
Grad Research and writing will be interesting. I get to write a paper for fun. i'm considering doing a paper on the effects of emerging culture on the church. I can already tell that may meet some resistance.
Minstry Prep feels like a repeat of several classes I've already had so far. We'll see.
The Pastor as Educator has promise. It is largely student led discussion and so far the texts have had a huge focus on the value of community. Again we shall see.
Most fun so far: The Dead Theologians club. We're reading Mere Christianity and talking about it (ie critique in relation to today's culture). You can argue your point, but cannot quote or reference living theologians or philosophers in your argument. It was fun watching the discussion as a grad assistant nailed a few of the profs over and over for citing living people.
On the church front, there are plenty to choose from, and we have visited two. One I love because of the structure and thrust of the church. The other is in need of young couples and is dying a slow death while praying that another church will take it over. Oddly, I'm compelled to go to the dying church because the people are people of prayer and have a sweet spirit, but I don't want to be a part of the church that may take over. I think I'll let God sort it out.
Job News: I got hired at Papa John's in Abilene to drive two shifts per week and fill in my 40 by running shifts. The pay is better than at PJ's in Waco, and it'll feed the family for now, but pray God works something else out. That's it for now more coming soon
